Kimpton Hotel to unveil hotel, branded residences in Mexico

By KIRAN GILL

InterContinental Hotels Group’s Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants is furthering its foothold in Mexico.

With an anticipated 2026 opening, Kimpton Monterrey will be the brand’s sixth property in the country. The hotel and branded residences will be located in Torre Rise, a new multiuse building expected to be the tallest tower in Latin America.

“We are delighted to continue growing our luxury and lifestyle presence within Mexico, and Kimpton Monterrey is poised to bring its distinct perspective, refined style and innovative restaurants and bars to this key international market,” said Leanne Harwood, senior vice president and managing director of luxury and lifestyle Americas of IHG Hotels & Resorts, in a statement.

“We are also especially excited to build upon our existing collaboration with Grupo Alora, working together to provide travelers with the inspired experiences and human hospitality for which Kimpton is celebrated globally,” Ms. Harwood said.

A luxurious destination

Kimpton Monterrey will be operated by Marca Hotel Solutions and owned by Grupo Alora. Plans for the property include 120 guestrooms and 60 private residences.

The hotel will boast panoramic views of the city and the Sierra Madre de Chipinque mountain range. Its wellness center will include an indoor pool, sauna and massage rooms.

The hotel will also house a full-service restaurant, a lobby lounge on the 16th floor and 13,390 square-foot space for meetings and events.

“We are elated with this new signing for several reasons,” said Alejandro Chávez, CEO of Grupo Alora, in a statement.

“First and foremost, it strengthens our relationship with IHG Hotels & Resorts, with whom we are already partners in several properties,” Mr. Chávez said. “Second, it will introduce another fantastic IHG brand, Kimpton, to Monterrey – an established economic engine in Mexico that is increasingly becoming a lifestyle and leisure destination.

“Finally, this partnership provides us with the opportunity to debut not only a world-renowned luxury brand in our city, within a spectacular state-of-the-art mixed-use development, but also an innovative branded residences offering.”

Kimpton Monterrey will join the Kimpton Virgilio in Mexico City, Kimpton Mas Olas Resort & Spa in Todos Santos and Kimpton Aluna Resort in Tulum. The brand’s first-ever all-inclusive resort, Kimpton Tres Rios Riviera Maya, is forthcoming.

In February, Kimpton Hotels announced plans to enter a new market and establish a property in Sicily, Italy (see story).
